Abstract

The hotel is a place to stay for people traveling long distances or on vacation. Each hotel room must be in prime condition before guests arrive. The hotel cleaning service staff is responsible for ensuring that hotel rooms are ready for guests. Inspections are carried out to ensure the readiness of hotel rooms. The use of paper-based hotel room reporting methods will result in the accumulation of paper waste, making it not environmentally friendly. Therefore, a cleaning service (CS) reporting system for hotel rooms based on Android smartphones was developed, making reporting more practical, efficient, and environmentally friendly due to reduced paper usage. The method used is a system development approach. In this study, paper usage was monitored for one month using a cleaning service reporting system with smartphones for filling out room checklist data, and the reporting data from the cleaning service staff was directly sent to the supervisor's email. The results of this study showed that out of 100 sheets of paper provided, only 4 sheets were used over one month because paper was only used when there were damages to hotel room items. The use of the reporting system demonstrated efficiency and a reduction in paper waste in the cleaning service staff reporting.
